Statement of Faith

The Scriptures

The Old and New Testaments are verbally, and whole inspired Word of God, written without error in the original manuscripts, and are infallible authority in all matters of faith and conduct.

2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:21

The Godhead

There is only one living and true God, eternally existing in three persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The three persons are equal in divine perfection, and they execute distinct but harmonious offices in the work of creation, and redemption.

Gen 1:1; Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 3:16, 28:19; John 1:1-2.

God the Father

God the Father, Creator of heaven and earth, who is infinite in wisdom, perfect in holiness, love, and measureless in power. He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of mankind, that He hears and answers prayers, and that He saves mankind from sin and death all who come to Him through Jesus Christ.

Gen. 1:1; Exodus 15:11; Matthew 6:6, 19:26; John 1:12, 3:16.

God the Son

Jesus Christ, the eternal, and only begotten Son of God, conceived by the Holy Spirit, and born of the Virgin Mary. We believe in His teachings, miracles, and that He lived a sinless life, making atonement for the sin of the world by His substitutionary death on the cross and His bodily resurrection. We also believe that He is seated at the right hand of the Father now interceding for His people, who are waiting for His imminent return to earth according to His promise.

Matthew 1:20; Luke 1:34, 35; John 1:1-2, 29, 3:16; Acts 1:3, 9; Hebrews 9:24, 28; I Peter 2:22; Revelation. 1:7

God the Spirit

The Holy Spirit, who came forth from God to convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment, and to regenerate, sanctify, comfort, and empower all who believe in Jesus Christ. He, the Holy Spirit indwells every believer in Christ, and He is an abiding helper, teacher, and guide.

John 14:15-17, 16:7-8; Acts 5:1-4; Romans 8:1-17, 15:16; 1 Corinthians 2:12, 3:16; Titus 3:5; I John 2:27.

Mankind

Man is created in the image of God and was made to live for God’s glory forever. But all of us have sinned in Adam, and that all men by nature and choice are sinners having incurred not only physical death but also that spiritual death which is separation from God. Since God is holy and cannot tolerate sin, all men are under condemnation and unable to save themselves.

Genesis 1:26; Psalm 5:5; Romans 3:23, 5:12; Revelation 4:11.

The Salvation of Man

We believe that "God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life." Therefore, those who by faith, apart from works (human merits) accept Christ as Lord and Savior are justified on the grounds of His shed blood, freed from condemnation, and given eternal life.

John 1;12, 3:16, 18, 6:40, 14:6; Ephesians 2:8-9; 1 Peter 2:29; 2 Peter 3:9; Isaiah 53:5-6

The Church

We believe in the universal Church; a living spiritual body of which Christ is the Head and of which all regenerated people are members. The local church is a group of believers in Jesus Christ, baptized in a credible profession of faith and associated for worship, work, and fellowship.

Matthew 28:17-20; John 17:20-23; Acts 2:41-42; I Corinthians 11:23-26, 12:12-31; Ephesians 1:22-23.

The Ordinances

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ has committed two ordinances to the local church - baptism and the Lord's Supper. A Christian baptism is the immersion of a believer in the name of the triune God. The Lord's Supper was instituted by Christ to commemorate His substitutionary and atoning death. We believe that these two ordinances should be observed and administered until the return of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Acts 8:26-40; Romans 6:3-5; 1 Corinthians 11:17-34.

The Last Things

We believe in the personal and visible return of the Lord Jesus Christ to earth and the full establishment of His kingdom. When Jesus returns there will be the resurrection of the body, the final judgment, the eternal joy of the righteous, and the endless suffering of the wicked.

John 14:3; I Thessalonians 4: 13-18; Revelation 20:11-15.

Holy Matrimony

We believe that marriage is the union of a man and a woman as husband and wife. We believe that in marriage, a man leaves his father and his mother and holds fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh. Marriage is an exclusive relationship, the total union of a man and a woman physically, emotionally, intellectually, and spiritually comprehended by the concept of "one flesh", eliminates polygamy as an option, and is to endure for the lifetime of the two partners.

Genesis 2:24; Matthew 19:5; Ephesians 5:31; Matthew 19:6.
